love on the beach {sneak peek for Anna & Matt}

I have been looking forward to Anna & Matt’s engagement session for a while now. Not only are these two super fun and adorable, they are big fans of the tiny fishing town of Pacific City Oregon. PC is my favorite place to be on the Oregon coast. My little family tries to make it out every chance we can get. So when Anna & Matt requested that we make the trip out for their engagement session I thought perfect! We will just take the family out for the weekend and shoot a fun couple along the way! Well the first time we tried it we ended up in the rain, so we tried again last weekend with better luck. It was so nice to be on the coast during Oregon’s crazy heat wave! Though when we finally got out to shoot it was a little foggy, no grand views of the sunset of haystack rock, we still had a lovely time.

Any way, enough of my rambling, here are a few of my favorites so far:

dogset

We started off the session with a few of their super sweet pups. Dory clearly wanted a little attention of her own. 🙂

After they got a few close-ups of their own the dogs went back to the car and we set out to get some of our happy  couple.

Anna Matt Peek-13

They are so sweet together. 🙂

Anna Matt Peek-14

I always ask they soon to be groom to  make the ladies laugh. Matt was excellent at his job.

Anna Matt Peek-15

The beach was so foggy that day there was no chance of seeing the big haystack rock, but I have to admit I kind of love the foggy feel. It was also nice to have a bit cooler weather. Check these two sporting their brand new coats. None of of us expected the cool weather and had to well, improvise with a little local shopping.

SandalsSet

Even though it was cooler we still had to sport the flip-flops. It is the beach after all!

Anna Matt Peek-18

🙂

runningset

It was not all snuggling on the beach, I did make these two work for it a bit.

Anna Matt Peek-21

Pacific City is also known for some great rock formations. This is right below the huge dune, I love all the crazy formations the rocks and sand take. And of course putting a beautiful couple in front of it is always nice.

feet set

I also had Anna & Matt venture out onto the rocks to get these. Little did I know I was asking them to walk barefoot across some old barnacles. Ouch! These two are such troopers!

Anna Matt Peek-30

And we had to do the “walking down the beach” shot. Due to the fog we were not able to capture the sunset, but again I love the misty feel to this one. It might be my favorite.

Anna & Matt I had a great time with the two of you. I can not wait for your wedding in just a few short weeks! And of course I will have this whole set for you very soon. To keep you busy how about a little comment challenge. If you can get 30 people to comment on this post I will throw in an 11×14 mounted wall print on me! SO leave some love people!

Love right across the river: Megan & Patrick engagement session

I am not sure how Megan & Patrick found me, however the way I am so very glad they did! These two are planning an amazing wedding this fall I am so excited to be a part of. From the location to the officiant it is going to be a rad day! I knew we had to do something special for their engagement session, so when the couple suggested an old historic building with in a stones throw from their place in Vancouver I thought it was a great idea. They live right downtown with in walking distance of some great art spots and pubs. I have to admit I have not spent a ton of time in Vancouver, normally just popping up and back to friends houses, it is a great city! I am so glad these two are so passionate about their city and wanted to include it in their session.

Here are a few of my favorites so far:

doorset

These doors belong to the Academy building. I have heard quite a few of my Vancouver photographer friends talk about this being a great place to shoot and never had a chance since it is out of my normal area. The building is beautiful, lots of great spots to shoot. It also has an amazing history that Megan shared with me.

MeganPatrickLove-13

smoochy + jumpy + sassy (all very important technical photography terms.)

MeganPatrickLove-12

they are super cute right?!

MeganPatrickLove-19

I just loved this old building, and of course the adorable couple.

ivyset

Couples always have better more natural smiles when they are looking at each other, and these two were no exception.

MeganPatrickLove-23

Once we were done shooting at the Academy we headed into downtown. Megan & Patrick are really proud of their downtown and wanted to include it in their session. Again I am so glad we did, I love this crazy blue wall. Apparently it is in the middle of a mural project? It will be fun to see how it turns out.

BWset

Megan’s dress was too perfect for a silhouette shot.

MeganPatrickLove-26

We also found a nice rooftop spot for some skyline sunset photos.

BWhallway

And we ended with a little steamy hallway set. Of course we really ended in giggles, but the view from above was too not to capture.

Megan & Patrick thanks for being up for anything! I had a great time hanging out with the two of you in your hood. I can not wait for your wedding in September, I can already tell it is going to be an amazing event. I hope you love these as much as I do.  As I do for all my new folks. I will hook up a little comment challenge. If you can get 25 people to comment on this post I will cover an 11×14 wall print on the house! So leave some love people, these two are totally worth it.

when yard games and love collide… (Liv & Alan’s sneak peek)

I have known Liv for, what, over 10 years now. She is quite simply one of the most rocken ladies I have ever had the pleasure of calling a friend. Liv has worked in the domestic violence movement for many years and is such an inspiration. She is loud and animated, well like me! No wonder we get along so well. I just adore her, so when she told me she was engaged I knew I just had to shoot her wedding.  When we finally met and I got to meet Alan our future groom I just adored him as well. These two are so sweet together, a perfect pair.  They met over the classic game bocce ball, and so we had to make it a part of our session. We met in the Northwest Park blocks of Portland and spent some time in the  neighborhood just laughing and taking photos.

Here are a few of my favorites so far:

bocceset

I was laying in grass to get this one and was lucky not to be hit! Ahh the things I do for love. 😉

livalanpeek-12

they are so sweet together.

livalanpeek-14

Livvie I love your smile. And of course your rocking ink!

stripeset

Liv & Alan are also avid kick ball players, part of a local team I believe. How fun is that!

livalanpeek-30

sasssay!

livalanpeek-33-copy

I love me some run down buildings, just perfect to put a couple in love in front of!

purple-set

such sweetness, I love how animated these two get around each other. This wedding is going to be so great to capture.

livalanpeek-32

*sigh* cuteness.

Liv & Alan I had a great time bopping around PDX with you two. And thanks for the Thai Ice Tea! Yumm. I can not wait for your wedding just around the corner. I hope you love these images as much as I do. And because miss Liv is one of my #1 gold star blog commenters I just have to offer a comment challenge. If you can get 30 people to comment on this post I will hook you up with an 11×14 of your choice for your home.  Personally I vote for the sassy kickball one, but I am bias! So get commenting kids!

Small town fun with Sarah & Aaron

Sarah, Aaron & I met up this weekend and shot some fun romantic photos in the little farm town of St. Paul, Oregon. I have already posted one, but of course had to come back for a full peek. We had fun running around the town and being goofy, and taking some great photos if I do say so my self. I loved the old farm town setting of St. Paul and have been dying to take a couple out there. I tried my best to get my kacy jo style on and capture the rustic setting.

Full disclosure here, the handsome young man in the following photos is an extended family member of mine. Aaron is my brother-in-laws baby brother (say that 5 times fast!) and I have known him for years. He comes from a family of 7 very  tall, very sweet boys that I just adore, so I am bias but I think he is going to make such a dashing groom. Sarah might also look familiar to some of my regular blog readers, she has been here before! She did a beautiful job modeling for me during our Sweet Nellies shoot earlier in the year. She is also a sweet heart, I can not wait to shoot their wedding this weekend! These two are just so lovely together, and great in front of the camera.

Here are a few of my favorites so far from our engagement session over the weekend:

prettylightset

they are just so sweet together.

grungy-wall

St. Paul had so many cool run down buildings, I had been eyeing for a while. Sadly they were, really rustic aka messy and sometimes gross, thanks for being hardcore and tuffing it out guys!

dangerset

we even found a pop of color, and check it out we even hooked up the Newberg HS colors. 😉

sarahaaromlove-10

Aaron’s big smile here kills me! Their wedding is going to be a fun one for sure.

walkingmixx

Sarah & Aaron were great about trusting me with the session. I LOVE that in a client.  If you let your photographer have the room to be creative, you will end up with better results trust me on this one. I got a little artsy here. I have seen this done by other photographers before and had to try it. I think it turned out pretty cool.

bigfieldlove

One of the biggest reasons we were all the way out in St. Paul were these huge beautiful fields of crimson clover. I wanted to get them out in the field, but once we got close we noticed those cute little boxes were buzzing. Uh yeah bee hives hello! So we played it safe and took a few on the road in the beautiful sun bathed light.

sarahaaromlove-41

and here… is my favorite. I love some many things about this photo. I love the light, the color, the way they are nestled together so perfectly. Even the way the sun gives Sarah a bit of a halo. Sometimes you take a photo, and even in the camera you just know you are going to love it, *sigh* yes these are the reasons I love my job. 🙂

Sarah & Aaron thank you so much for tromping around with me for a few hours to take some rad photos. I love you are as happy with them as I am. I can not WAIT until your wedding, hello tomorrow! It is going to be absolutely fabulous.  I will see you both very soon, enjoy your last night before saying “I do”!

Bryn & Scott = Super Cuteness

I clicked with Bryn & Scott from the get go, I just knew I had to shoot their wedding after our first meeting. Scott is a student of environmental studies, and Bryn spends her days helping foster kids of Oregon.  They had such sweet things to say about my work, and even had kind words about my efforts with the Heart Gallery of Oregon! Both super sweet and mellow, they were planning a laid back but elegant wedding that sounded so fun to be a part of. Oh and to top it off their wedding location is one of the most picturesque venues in Oregon.  When they contacted me to book I was stoked to be a part of their big day. This past weekend we met up again in Northwest Portland to shoot some fun engagement photos. We had a blast picking fun spots, sharing a few laughs and enjoying a few pints of great local micro brews.

It was a terrible task picking just a few for the peek, so here is what I got it weeded down two. Lots more to come!

linnedwall

they are so cute, and Scott I mean that in the manliest way possible. 😉

(a couple regular readers of mine *ahem sister in laws* might recognize this particular purple wall.)

though they were originally nervous about being in front of the camera after a little bit,(and a delicious pint) they warmed right up and were awesome in front of my camera.

greenwall

I love this green wall, but to get the right angle I had to lay in the cement, hardcore I know. Not only did my gear almost get run over by some crazy old guy, I got up with tiny rocks all stuck to my face. I apparently was so into what I had just shot that I got a whole block away before Bryn was kind enough to point out I had crap all over my cheek.  I felt just a bit silly, but I think the photos are worth it!

smileyhappypeople

They are just so sweet together, I can not wait till the wedding later in the summer!

Bryn & Scott thanks again for spending a warm evening with me tromping around the Pearl! I had a great time getting to know you both better. I can already tell your wedding is going to be fantastic! And of course I know you are looking forward to setting up the new place this summer, so to help you out I will hook up a little comment challenge. If you can get 25 people to comment on this post I will cover an 11×14 wall print on the house! So leave some love people, these two are totally worth it.
