Love at the Oregon State Fair

Julie & Chris are my kind of couple, fun, outgoing, silly, and well they like to eat crazy fried sugary food.

From the very first inquiry email I received from Julie she was planning a very special engagement session. Chris had this idea to do their session at the Oregon State Fair. Bright colors, fun backdrops, and of course fair food. You see Chris is a corn dog guy, what better place is there for a corn dog guy that the state fair.  So off to the fair we went, and had lots of fun making some great images.

I could go on and one but lets get to the photos!

Chris & Julie are adorable too, did I mention that?

I loved this cool old truck, and of course Julie’s sassy heels. Such a trooper hiking all over the fair grounds in them.

JulieChrisPeek-4

Chris was right, check out all the lights and colors, I just loved trying to capture it all! And of course having a beautiful couple to put in front of it all was lots of fun.

Whack-a-mole? Heck yeah we did!

Corn dogs, cotton candy, candy apples, all the important food groups.

And you know what’s next right…

The Lovely Leia & Tyler

Leia & Tyler are wonderful, it is that simple. Working with some couples just make you feel all warm and fuzzy, like old friends.  🙂  Leia & Tyler are planning a beautiful wedding next month on the Oregon coast I can not wait to capture. Lots of out of town family, beautiful details  and special events, It is going to be grand.  I have been looking forward their engagement  session for a while now, so when we met in downtown Salem, OR on a warm summer night I knew it would be a great session.

We had a great time running around the colorful back allys and chasing the sunset down to the waterfront. Here are some of my favorites so far:

BWbrickheart

We found some heart graffiti, perfect right?!

allybrick

Salem has some wonderful wisteria covered alleys that were a great romantic backdrop.

BrickWall

These two are so sweet together.

we even went back to my favorite grungy service door. A virtual cookie to anyone who can remember the session I used this same door in last year!

I love Leia’s smiles here, clearly so much brighter when she is looking at her cute man rather than me!

We made it down to the waterfront just in time for the last moments of sunset.  So pretty!

I heart warm summer nights with nice people

When Jamie (the mama) called me a few weeks back to inquire about a family session I knew instantly it was going to be a great session. She had done her homework and was familiar with my style and down for what ever it took to make a great session. She also loved the idea of running around a local nature preserve I had been eying for months to shoot. It was perfect, so when the night came up and the temperature was not too hot, or too cold I knew it would be a good night. Oh and it helps that the entire family is completely beautiful.

I meet up with this adorable family at the Tualitin River National Wildlive Refuge just before sunset, and we had a lovely time running around, picking blackberries, chasing grasshoppers.

I could do the longest post in the world with all of my favorites, but I will be good. Here are a few of my favs so far:

handsomboy

Meet the little dude, he completely stole my heart. He the cutest! He just turned 2 and is always on the go! He gave me a work out for sure keeping up with him, but so worth it for that smile.

MomandDad

Mom & Dad are also very sweet and hello adorable!

treefamily

We have lots of fun running around the reserve. They have some beautiful trails perfect for capturing that late summer warmth.

ALLBOY

Little dude is ALL BOY. I scored big points when I caught a grasshopper for him to check out. Gah look at that smile, so cute!

BWfamily

This one might be my favorite, their smiles are all real & playful.

mamaset

Little dude loves his mama!

berryfiend

and of course we got all those great little dude smiles with some delicious local blackberries! Yumm.

benchset

Ahh the whole family was just lovely.

sunsetfamily

Ok maybe I take it back, this one might be my favorite. I love the tender moments, and that little smile peeking out.

lastpeek

and one last shot before it was completely dark. 🙂 I love all the colors here.

Jamie I had an absolutely wonderful time with all of you! I will have the full gallery for you very soon. I look forward to next time already, and weddings, and babies and on and one! You guys rock.  And of course all my new clients get a little blog challenge special. If you can get 30 people to comment on this little blog post I will throw in a mini wallet album for both of you! So leave some love in the comment section folks!

Christi + Brett = Beautiful Salem, OR Wedding

You might remember these two love birds from their engagement session back way back when it was sweater weather. Well weather wise they could not have picked an opposite day to get married! Christi and Brett’s August wedding was a warm one, but not just in temperature. Warm in character and definitely warm at heart. These two chose to have an intimate wedding with just close friends and family at their beautifully restored Salem home. Every little detail was beautifully attended to, the flowers, the food all of it. I had such a wonderful time with these two, they are such sweet hearts! The entire party was filled with nice people. When I work with wonderful people like this I am reminded what a great job I have. 🙂

On to the photos! Here are just a few of my favorites so far:

dressset

Christi’s dress was divine. I could have shot just the details of the dress alone for hours. 🙂

peeking

Christi was so cute, she clearly could not be outside helping set up the yard but she had to see what was going on. I busted her here checking out the progress of the big event set up via a little bathroom window.

flowers

One of the things she was peeking on was her amazing flowers. A good friend of hers (who also happens to be very talented event planner) took a flower arranging class and did these flowers her self, can you believe it! Mindy you are seriously talented girl!

makeupset

Christi was so calm too, I just love how zen she was for these make up shots.

himprep

Brett was also pretty Zen about the whole big day. Even with a last moment tie ironing issue he just rolled with it.

ringsset

Another detail I had fun with was the rings.

first look

For the first look I really wanted to incorporate their beautiful home, so we set up right on the front steps. They were so sweet and giddy to see each other.

decoderring

another over the top fun detail would have to be the gift that Christi gave Brett during the first look. I guess a long time inside joke of theirs was about him needing a secret decoder ring. So as a little wedding gift, that is exactly what she got him! Again I just love these two.

After our first look we headed down to the Oregon State Capital building for our portrait session. It was super hot so we tried to keep it short and sweet, but I think we got some really lovely shots of the lovely couple.

dashinggroom

check out our dashing groom! Brett you clean up well for sure.

bride

and our beautiful bride! Christi really truly, you looked amazing.

hands

🙂

BWsmile

and like most couples I got the very best smiles when they were looking at each other!

capitalbldand even in the blaizing sun we had to get one with the capital building and famouse “gold man” in the background.

I have so much more to show you all here soon. Like hey the actual wedding! I will have to leave it be for today and do a second post again soon to squeeze it all it. Christi & Brett, thanks again for having me be a part of your big day. I hope you had am amazing honeymoon! I will have lots more for you very very soon. To all the friends & family reading. Please do leave a comment here and I will send you the full gallery information when it is all ready!
