Happy Birthday Redhead!

5 years ago today a sweet, sassy, loud, kind, ball of energy came into my life.

My life, my work and my world has forever been changed.

Miss Scarlett bear, thank you for making me a mommy, and thank you for making my world the wonderful place it is. I can never explain how amazing you are, and how much I love you.

the best of blind dates….

I booked Katie & Charlie’s fall wedding when I was off the grid on maternity leave. Not up for a in person meeting yet (Katie I think you contacted me literally the day I gave birth) they signed a contract, wrote a check and sent it in the mail. Not usually how I book a couple, but I loved the confidence they had that we would work well together. Well after a few months a few tweets & few emails later we set up their engagement session. Again Katie was super trusting with my ideas and location choices, I was getting super excited to work with them. So when the night came to actually meet Katie & Charlie it felt a little like a blind date. I was actually nervous, but man I had no reason! Katie & Charlie are two of the nicest, cutest, more lovely people I have ever had the chance to point my camera at. They were up for anything, and completely adorable together, it just does not get any better.

Here are a few from our session:

Katie wanted rustic, I had been dying to shoot this old barn for a while now so I convinced them to come out to rural Newberg. Rad right!

did I mention they are adorable?

yeah yeah private property, would you kick these two adorable love birds off?

and then we hit the magic light spot.

they. are. so. cute.

Katie really hooked up the vintage feel with her killer accessories. Loved it!

She also brought her (film gasp!) camera, so we had to use it as a prop.

we also found this great run down fence at a local farm. I tell ya if you want rural, come to my neck of the woods. 🙂

and another magic light spot at sunset, how great are these two.

Katie & Charlie thanks for trekking all the way out to Newberg and being up for my crazy ideas and tromping through the countryside! I just loved meeting you two, I can not tell you how stoked I am for your wedding! And of course as new clients I would love to hook up the blog challenge. If you can get 25 people to comment on this little post I will have a 11×14 wall print for you on the house! Leave some kind words people. 🙂

pretty skies and lovely people make me happy

Is there anything better than spending time with people in love on an amazingly beautiful night in downtown Portland? I think not.

This past weekend I had the chance to hang out with the adorably lovely Catherine & Heather.  I am so looking forward to thier wedding  just a few short months away.

It was important to these two to capture some of their favorite spots in the city so we took quite the trek, but my was it worth it. We walked, we talked, we took some photos. It was all around a wonderful evening. 🙂

Here are some of my favorites so far:

Did I mention how adorable they are?

the Portland waterfront is just beautiful this time of year. We had to dodge rose festival crowds, but the north end was just lovely.

🙂

we also found some wonderful sculptors like this metal wall.

ok this cracks me up. Catherine was forever fixing Heathers hair.  I had to capture the cute picking going on.

I don’t know why but I love this one, the silhouette of the two women is just beautiful.

clearly there is allot of love here.

we also ran into a random flower show in Pioneer Courthouse Square. Portland’s living room was quite fragrant that evening!

Check out this cool “tree” in the park blocks.  Their wedding will have a tree theme so I thought it was fitting to capture this.

ahhh and the bubblers, so Heather LOVES bubblers. As I hear it if she walks by one she has to get a drink out of it. So it was mandatory we find one for our session.

there was much cuteness, and even some skipping.

this set might be my favorite, this wall is outside the art museum. Their smiles at each other in the second shot just make me happy.

and our last stop atop a parking garage to get the wonderful city in the last bits of sunset light. The city and these two were just glowing with beauty. 🙂

Catherine & Heather thanks again for trekking all over town with me. I had a wonderful time with the two of you. I can not wait to capture your wedding later on this summer. Of course for all my new clients I have to throw down the blog comment challenge. Catherine & Heather if you can get 25 people to comment on this post I will throw in an 11×14 on me. I think one of the cityscape portraits would look great large in print. 🙂 So leave some love people!

when people you love fall in love…

I have known Jacob for many years, though good times and hard times, through preppy, hippy & trendy hipster phases, through the birth of children, even through poor facial hair choices. Jacob is the kind of friend that becomes family. So when my defacto little brother Jacob told me he was in love I was super excited to meet miss Martha.  Miss Martha did not disappoint, she is just as sweet and kind as Jacob, so it was my pleasure to celebrate their engagement with them over the weekend with a few photos around my home. It was an honor to capture their love with my camera. 🙂

Here are a few of my favorites so far:

it is kind of annoying how ridiculously adorable they are right.

there was much smooching…

Jacob’s son Quin also got in on the action. Clearly little dude stole the show!

🙂

aren’t they just so sweet together.

I also nabbed Quin for a few on his one. Dude has eye lashes to die for.

and I had to get a few of father and son. I just adore these two.

Martha, Jacob & Quin thanks for coming out and letting me point my camera your way. I can not wait to capture your wedding in just a few months! I just adora all of you, it makes me happy to see you all so happy together. 🙂
