Jessica + Ryan = love

Some times things just come together.

I met Ryan and Jessica under less than awesome circumstances. Long story short they were in need of a wedding photographer somewhat last moment for their big day, and not having much luck and having a very bad taste in their mouths due to a previous experience.  As luck would have it their wedding date was the one and only Saturday I had open between May & October, so we set it all up. After hearing their story and meeting these two I knew I wanted to work with them. They are sweet, kind, funny and so very in love. While I still feel bad about the drama they had to endure, I am so glad with how it all worked out, and that I get to be the one to capture their wedding and engagement session.

For the engagement we met up at a local pub, had a beverage, talked all things wedding and summer events then went to a local park for some laid back photos. Jessica and Ryan were so fun to get to know, and even dared the water for a few images!

Here are a few of my favorites from our session…

Jessica & Ryan thanks for being such great subjects and for being so fun to capture. I really enjoyed spending some time with the two of you and hearing more of your story. I am so excited to capture your wedding day! For now I would love to offer you a bit of a blog contest. If you can get 30 people to comment on this  blog post I will throw in an 11×14 wall hanging on the house. So leave some love folks.

Samantha + Gavin = Love

“Where shall we do the engagement shoot?” Is a constant running conversation around here. As I have said many times I really prefer to do engagement shoots with each of my wedding clients before their big day. It helps both me and the clients get used to shooting together before the stress and crazy of a wedding day hits. An important part of that process is the location.

I have two rules for choosing the location, one is pick something unlike your wedding location. We want variety in life right?! Second is choose someplace special to the two of you as a couple. A favorite bar or coffee shop? A neighborhood you used to frequent when first dating? Or even a beloved park or bookstore. Something personal always adds to the intimacy of the shoot. Some times we struggle with this, but sometimes couples know immediately what they want.

Samantha & Gavin hit the nail on the head when they suggested their own backyard. Over the last few years they have spent quite a bit of time and energy making their backyard into a beautiful green oasis. From the sweet table settings to the luscious garden the whole space was awesome to work in, and really brought out their identity as a couple.

We had a great time talking bugs, plants, crazy outdoor sleeping arrangements, and all things garden. It was a great time!

Eric + Heather = Love

Ok what can I say about Heather & Eric. They are two of the sweetest and kindest people I have ever had the pleasure of pointing my camera at. It was fitting we spent a warm summer evening  together to capture their engagement session. We went out the beautiful grounds of McMenamins Edgefield and shared a few laughs and made some beautiful images. Hanging out with these two was super easy and fun. I just know their wedding just a few short weeks away will also be a great time. 🙂

Katie + Chad = Love

What can I say about Katie and Chad… They are sweet and kind and crazy funny, and wicked smart. Katie and I go way back, and by way back I mean WAY back. Katie first met me when I rocked the braces and & plaid flannels. Oh yes, summer camp in the 90’s was pretty amazing, and one of the best parts was coming out of it with some awesome friends for life, and miss Katie is one of them. It’s fun to hang out all grown up, but I do miss the smores. It was great to catch up, hear all about her life in NY and of course get to know Chad. These two are perfect together, I can not wait to capture their wedding next month!

Seth + Jeffery = love

I adore Seth & Jeffery, there is no way around it. These two guys are smart, funny, and a whole lot of awesome to have in-front of the camera. They are also super prepared wich I find incredibly endearing. We happened to meet for their engagement session a few weeks back on a blisteringly hot late afternoon.  S&J not only keep them selves upbeat and fun to be around, they also came backing cold water and cold cloths for cooling down, prepared I tell ya! We had a great time chatting about all things wedding, Project Runway, music education and heatwave. We had so much fun, it really was a pleasure to capture these two together. I am beyond excited to capture the wedding here in just a few weeks.
