Just over a week ago I got an email from a very excited guy named Dustin. He was planning a very special moment, that he wanted photographed. He was getting together a fun and creative way to propose to his longtime girlfriend. He had it all planned out, and had it all set up with friends & family waiting in the wings to help pull it off. I have to admit I was more than excited to capture it for him. It is not every day that you get to witness and capture a proposal!
So the day came along, and let me tell you the weather was not what you would call ideal. It was wet, rainy, and super windy. All that aside it was a magical moment. Seeing Alyson’s face when she figured out what was going on was priceless! I could go on and on about how fun this was, but lets get on to the photos shall we?!
Dustin & Alyson I am so happy for you two! I hope you had a magical day, and wish you nothing but the best in your lives together. It was my pleasure to capture your special moment, and I look forward to hearing more about the wedding. I know a pretty good wedding photographer when the time comes ;). I hope you enjoyed reliving the special moment! I will have the whole set done for you shortly.

Wonderful!!!!!
[…] I sent the link for this blog to my friend Jane, who shared the news that her son Dusty–who lives in other Portland (Oregon)–had also recently become engaged. His proposal was an event with a photographer, balloon, and his three brothers watching it through binoculars. The only thing that didn’t cooperate was the weather: cold, rainy, and very windy. “Miserable, even by PNW standards,” Jane told me. Still, Alyson’s face when she realizes what is happening lights up the whole picture. Photos of the day can be found here. […]
Thank you for your comments, Leslie. To set the record straight, though, I am the step-mother, not the mother. I don’t get a bit of credit for raising her sons, but sure get in on a lot of fun! 🙂
