I have known Sara & Josh a few years now. Sara is a old and dear friend of my beloved sister in law, she and josh have all way been fun to see around parties & camping trips. Even hanging out with them as guest at one of the weddings I shot this summer!
They are the kind of couple that are just easy to hang out with, and fun to be around. When Sara contacted me earlier in the year about shooting her wedding I was overjoyed. Knowing these two, I knew the wedding was going to be an amazing event.
They will be getting married this June at a beautiful summer camp just up the Columbia River Gorge, it will be a beautiful setting and location! To give them a little something different for their engagement photos we trekked into downtown Portland for this session. Even though both were a little hesitant to do the session at first, we had a great time running around downtown. Even their adorable (and huge!) dog Bohdi got in on some of the photo action.
Here are a few of my favorites so far:
Sara & Josh both have sparkly blue eyes & warm smiles.
Sara & Josh have been together for a long time. How many years has it been, like 7? These two are so lovely together. It is always fun to work with a couple who is 100% comfortable with each other and just so good together.
Check out the whole family here. Bhodi is so adorable. He is some kind of lab mix, but by the size I believe the guess is his mix is Great Dane. Though a little attached to his people he is a big huge love. It will be fun to see how big he gets, oh yes he is what only 10 months old right now. Lover boy is going to be massive.
this one might be my absolute favorite from the day. We lucked into some amazing afternoon light.
After running around downtown I talked Sara & Josh into heading into a parking lot with me. Not the most traditional place for a session I know, but I just had few ideas I wanted to try out. They were pretty rad to accommodate my crazy ideas!
Thank goodness no cars decided to make it up to the top of the structure for these! I loved all the bright yellows.
🙂
Beautiful city + beautiful couple = happy emily
We so lucked out with the weather on Sunday. The skies were perfect!
and one last one of our lovely couple. Such a perfect fit these two.
Sara & Josh thanks for hanging out with me on sunday, even if you did have to drag your selves out for it. I think we got some really fun stuff, and I know this puts your minds at ease for the big day! You two are awesome, I can wait to show you the rest! And of course I even have a little blog challenge for you. If you can get 3o people to comment on this post I will give you a 11×14 wall print on me. So leave some love people. 🙂 Much more for the two of you very soon!
xo em
The second-to-last and third-to-last are the bomb-dot-com, awesome work my dear!
Awesome shots, Emily! And is that a fish eye I’m noticing? Love how you used the lines as well.
Me say something embarrassing?? Not possible!
I love these shots. It will be great to have some of the wedding, but these photos show the day to day caring and loving relationship that my daughter and close-son have for each other.
Nice job, Emily!
PS How come Bodhi isn’t eating something that he shouldn’t be? I almost didn’t recognize him because he wasn’t in trouble.
Wow! I love your work Emily, you know how to capture the natural beauty of the moment.
The parking shots (with the arrow) has a modern and european feel (nordic country, maybe sweden?) to me. Definitely different and cool!
The city of Portland should buy the picture with Josh & Sara on the bench(with Bodhi), I want to go sit on that exact bench, they look so relax and happy.
Love evertyhing! It’s so much like Sara, natural and spontaneous.
gorgeous, em!
Love them! You guys look so natural together and the pics look fantastic!
LOVE These! Beautiful EM!
Great pictures!! These are awesome, you guys!
For someone who didn’t want to do the photo shoot, you both look amazing! These pics are natural and lovely, just like both of you. Not the 3 of you because Bodhi isn’t exactly what I would call natural, or relaxed 🙂
I agree with Chris here, is something wrong with Bodhi? I expected to see a shot of him with maybe a parking warden, stroller, traffic cone or the Pioneer Square Christmas tree in his mouth?
Amazing pictures though, especially number three with Sara trying to pick some cornflakes out of Josh’s beard.
Beautiful job as always Em…these turned out AMAZING!! Love you guys.
Wow they are great! you guys make an amazing couple! I am so happy for both of you! Miss ya!
I love the one of you on the bench with Bhodi. And the last one! Very cute. And ignore Kevin.
All that talk about Portland’s crummy weather, and we get weather like that in November. Beautiful!
These photos are AMAZING! I guess two beautiful people plus one talented photographer and a lab mix makes for some pretty fantastic shots! Throw in the backdrop of Namanu and you guys are going to end up on the cover of something. :o)
WOW! These are fantastic. I love the brick walls and the ones with the backdrop of the buildings. Of course Bohdi is adorable. You two are beautiful. Hugs, Matt and Meghan
The black and white are great, as are the colored, especially with the fall leaves. The one with the fisheye lens (or whatever) is fun, with the building leaning over for a look at Sara and Josh. Very nice!!
Looking good you two! Props to the photographer. I’m a fan of the city backdrop. After all, you have the rest of your lives to spend taking beautiful pictures in nature. I vote for Josh to continue growing his beard out until the big day!
