I have been looking forward to Anna & Matt’s engagement session for a while now. Not only are these two super fun and adorable, they are big fans of the tiny fishing town of Pacific City Oregon. PC is my favorite place to be on the Oregon coast. My little family tries to make it out every chance we can get. So when Anna & Matt requested that we make the trip out for their engagement session I thought perfect! We will just take the family out for the weekend and shoot a fun couple along the way! Well the first time we tried it we ended up in the rain, so we tried again last weekend with better luck. It was so nice to be on the coast during Oregon’s crazy heat wave! Though when we finally got out to shoot it was a little foggy, no grand views of the sunset of haystack rock, we still had a lovely time.
Any way, enough of my rambling, here are a few of my favorites so far:
We started off the session with a few of their super sweet pups. Dory clearly wanted a little attention of her own. 🙂
After they got a few close-ups of their own the dogs went back to the car and we set out to get some of our happy couple.
They are so sweet together. 🙂
I always ask they soon to be groom to make the ladies laugh. Matt was excellent at his job.
The beach was so foggy that day there was no chance of seeing the big haystack rock, but I have to admit I kind of love the foggy feel. It was also nice to have a bit cooler weather. Check these two sporting their brand new coats. None of of us expected the cool weather and had to well, improvise with a little local shopping.
Even though it was cooler we still had to sport the flip-flops. It is the beach after all!
🙂
It was not all snuggling on the beach, I did make these two work for it a bit.
Pacific City is also known for some great rock formations. This is right below the huge dune, I love all the crazy formations the rocks and sand take. And of course putting a beautiful couple in front of it is always nice.
I also had Anna & Matt venture out onto the rocks to get these. Little did I know I was asking them to walk barefoot across some old barnacles. Ouch! These two are such troopers!
And we had to do the “walking down the beach” shot. Due to the fog we were not able to capture the sunset, but again I love the misty feel to this one. It might be my favorite.
Anna & Matt I had a great time with the two of you. I can not wait for your wedding in just a few short weeks! And of course I will have this whole set for you very soon. To keep you busy how about a little comment challenge. If you can get 30 people to comment on this post I will throw in an 11×14 mounted wall print on me! SO leave some love people!

Those are awesome! You guys look great.
These are all beautiful shots Emily! Great work and I love the tone of the bottom one and the fifth one up. I also really like the red g in your logo!
Looks like you guys had more fun that Anna and I did during our engagement pic session….it really wasn’t that bad, you know I just hate getting my pictures taken. Matt must be a lot better about that than I am.
Love the black and white shot. See you soon.

Wow! What a cute couple! Even though I might be biased, as mom of the bride…
Of course, I want one of each. They are fabulous.
I love the one with Matt making Anna laugh its great! The pictures are all great! see you both soon.
WE LOOK GOOD!
Pacific City is so beautiful! One of my faves as well!
Those shots are amazing, I’m totally feeling the fog as well.
Great shots guys…
I love these amazing photographs. They are awesome. I am sure you will forever cherish them and so will your children (lol) I think that perhaps you could submit them to Columbia for some extra dough!!! Nice advertising placement.
Love the one of you two walking down the beach…too bad there wasn’t a sunset! Congrats!
BEAUTIFUL photos!!! Can’t wait for the BIG day!!! Love you guys!!!
really good pictures.
these are so adorable! you two make a fabulous couple!
Nice Anna, can’t wait to see how great pics at the Oregon Garden will turn out!! I love the foot picture!
Wow Anna…it’s been so long! Congratulations on your engagement/soon to be marriage… these pictures are beautiful.
gorgeous!
I like that Dori made sure everyone knew she was there. You guys are very cute! I like the black and white ones!
What a fun day. The wedding pics are going to be great.
Nice images Emily! You’ve done a great job making the best of the foggy weather but having a nice photogenic couple (not that I’m biased or anything) certainly helped. Anna, we’ll have to add a couple of these to the wall alongside the ones we took of you and your brother at Pacific City 24 years ago.
Three Comments:
Comment the First: They are Awesome Shots! You two look wonderfully happy, I am so Happy for you, and can’t wait for the big day! (and the wedding a couple days later should be nice as well)
Comment the Second: Completely independent of the fact that these are very nice engagement photos- in a whole different way, the composition and tone of the ‘depth of field’ shots is really amazing . . . the sharpness of the foreground in contrast with the two of you behind is really very interesting. In a way they almost look like they came out of a commercial piece (especially the ones with the stylized name in the corner) and you two are models in a shoot for some line of super chi-chi dog collars (in the case of the contrapposto-esque Dori in the right of the first two shots), or some hip and fun ‘emilyg’ flip-flops (in the case of the doubles 5 down), or a print advert for Columbia. The whole set possessed of a happy, fun, care-free feel. I guess what I am saying is you are both incredibly photogenic and your photographer really seems to have a grip on how to capture a moment.
Comment the Third: What is this “trash the dress shoot in PC” of which ‘olivia’ speaks? . . . hmmm . . .?
Amazing pictures! Amazing location and most of all Amazing couple!
It’s nice to know you both could pursue a second career as models!
Matt where’s your toenail polish in the “foot “shot?
What a happy couple! They are cute pictures and I especially like the black and white photo. Great additions to your wedding album.
Aunt Pat
Great photos! Y’all look so GOOD! I’m diggin’ the fog too!
Beautiful pictures! You guys are so cute! Sorry I’ll miss the wedding… I’m sure it will be perfect!
Great pictures! Looks like a fun day at the beach. Oregon coast is a beautiful place.
Great pictures! It looks like it was a very fun day. I have a few favorites…it will be fun to see if those become your favorites too! 🙂
Tough shooting conditions. Great work Emily. I especially like the mood, tone, and composition of Peeks 13 & 21. Matt and Anna look so great together!
So great!!! I love this session. The weather wasn’t cooperative during our engagement session either…I think it makes for extra great pics. Kudos Emily. Great work….and of course…you have the cutest couple to work with!
Wow Matt!! It looks like you’ve been working out. Great picture walking down the beach. BTW you should have left your sandles on for the foot shot, your feet are a little knobby.
Good looking pictures buddy!!
I loved the pictures. Anna your even more beautiful then when I took your picture thru the nursery window minutes after your birth. Of course I’m still prejudiced being I’m your Aunt. Matt you looked great as well.
